Bullies in Schools
in Relationship to Domestic Violence
School districts are being held liable every day because they did too much, or too little, concerning bullies and school violence issues. Sgt. Bill Davis, a 38-year police veteran, discusses issues from a U.S. Dept. of Justice study and intertwines these school issues with domestic violence and sexual incidents. Bullies and their profiles, victims and their profiles, how a “zero-tolerance” policy is counter-productive, and questions your school district should be answering, will be discussed in this session. Sgt. Davis will also discuss how each bullying incident, as defined by the U.S. Dept. of Justice, is a crime under state law. He will also show how a multi-disciplinary approach to bullying incidents is a much more objective and better approach for the child and lessens your liability, under both criminal law and civil law.
